2)  Music Assembly–There will be a music assembly this Thursday at 1:30-2:00pm in the gym.  Please cover music audience etiquette and assembly expectations.

3)  Teachers & Peer Observation–There was an opportunity in the process of being organized for teachers to observe other teachers with sub release.  Unfortunately, due to district and building budget constraints, we have canceled this opportunity.  Teachers are still encouraged to discuss checking out colleague strategies during specialist time and other available times during the instructional day.

4)  School Choice Tours-McCornack’s School Choice Tours are on Tuesday, January 27th,
January 29th, February 23rd, February 24th, February 26th–all from 9:30-10:30am .  We will be starting with a welcome/introduction/keynote in my office, followed by student/parent guided tours of the building.  These tours have been well attended in the past and strongly support our school enrollment.  Please let me know if there is something going on in your classroom at this time that you would like me to highlight as we go around.

2)  Spanish Translation–If you would like me to send in your class/grade level homework/routine description sheet to Alicia to translate, please e-mail it to me by this week Friday.  This sheet is probably something you already have ready for curriculum night and should be brief and highlight what parents should see or hear about at home about the weekly work routine.  Thank you to Mark and Marsha for getting theirs in to me already!

2)  McCornack Testing Schedule–See the attached schedule and let me know if you see any conflicts. All the proctoring schedules and technology resources are being coordinated around this basic schedule, particularly for OAKS.  mcc-assessment-schedule08_09

3)  OAKS Schedule Draft--Please check for conflicts/glitches and let me know.  I would like to organize all rounds with the same time/structure.  The first round will be basic proctoring for all, followed by more accommodating proctoring for next rounds.  The difference in rounds will be the number of students testing, who and how many proctors and location.  Once I have round 1 feedback from staff, I will work with Rebecca and Regina to solidify a round 2 and 3 schedule that will be distributed via hard copy paper only for confidentiality purposes in January.  Oaks Schedule Draft

4)  Mandatory OAKS Training–Remember that the state requires an annual mandatory training for all staff who will be proctoring the OAKS assessment, any subject.  McCornack has the training scheduled for Jan 7th, 2:30-3:30pm (staff meeting).

5)  Lunch Leaders-We are in the process of diverting the services of lunch leaders.  It was a positive that they want to contribute to their school and the primary students don’t need the assistance they needed at the start of the year.  I will be working with the to come up with another way to serve our school and keep staff in the loop.

3)  Jan 7th Staff Meeting-By state law every person who will be proctoring/administering the state assessment must have training every year about the process and policies related to the testing process.  The ultimate responsibility, according to state law, is the classroom teacher and each teacher will have a form to sign that is filed with the district indicating agreement with policies.  I would like to use Jan 7th’s staff meeting to review the world of state testing (including a review of our building schedule, proctors and technology plan) and provide these forms.

4)  Breakfast for All Students–Feedback from Site Council was that we take a staff meeting to discuss and problem solve ways we can support students with food in the AM in preparation for their day.  I will add that to the list of agenda items after the Jan 7th meeting.

5)  Join me in welcoming Erin Sain, our new Kindergarten IA.  She has experience working with children at Jasper Mountain and the Relief Nursery, was a “teacher interventionist”, and has volunteered extensively at Meadowlark & Buena Vista, her childrens’ schools.  Welcome aboard, Erin!
